FOOTBALL TRAINING SESSION – PASSING SUPPORT AND RECEIVING – PASS IN THREES
ORGANISATION
Lay out 3 cones in a triangle shape. The distance between the cones should be 10 – 15 yards, depending on the age and ability of the players.
To start the practice, Player A passes to player B. Player B initially checks away from the ball, before checking back to receive the pass on the back foot and turn round the outside of the cone. After the pass, player A runs to cone B. Repeat round the triangle.
KEY TECHNICAL ASPECTS
Focus on the technique of the push pass, get the ball out of the feet, picture the pass, use the side – foot, strike through the middle / centre of the ball *Accurate, well weighted, timed passes, along the floor and to the outside of the cone *Timing of the movement from the receiving player to check away from the ball, before receiving *Receive the ball on the back foot and turn round the cone *After pass, follow to the next cone
