Become more than just a football coach

It is frightening how much power and influence a grassroots football coach has with their players. Football coaches fulfill a number of important roles, such as:

• Teachers
• Role models and leaders
• Mentor
• Friend
• Tactician
• Manager
• Planners and organisers

But everything we do, involves communication. How we communicate, both verbally and with our body language is so important with young impressionable players. We have to be so careful about what words we use with our players and the impact these words can have.
